Lic. Héctor Beristain Souza

Born in Mexico City July 27, 1970.

Education :

He obtained his degree at the “Universidad Tecnológica de Mexico” on April 1999.

In 2000, he participated in the project for the Economic Commission Treaty for Latin America and the Caribbean “CEPAL”, in order to create building blocks, to encourage and promote a legal regime, to create an optimal infrastructure, to increase and develop competitive natural gas markets in Central America Itzmo geographical zone.

Post grade studies in Corporate and Economic Law during 2001, at the “Universidad Panamericana” in Mexico City.

July 2001, attended the seminar “Introduction to Legal English” by the International Law Institute (ILI) in cooperation with the George Washington University, in Washington D.C.

Post grade studies in Civil and Commercial Proceedings Law during 2002, at the “Universidad Panamericana” in Mexico City.

Post grade studies in “Amparo Law Suit” (Constitutional Rights Protection Proceedings) during 2003, at the “Universidad Panamericana” in Mexico City.

October 2004, participation at the International Arbitration Course, organized and held by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), in San José, Costa Rica.

May 2006, participation in the «All Energy, renewables exhibition and conference» held by the British Wind Energy Association, the Scotish Renewables Forum, Shell and others, at Aberdeen UK.

He has participated in several conferences related to regulation features and Generalities of Natural Gas, electricity power generation in Mexico and abroad. As well as many updating seminars and lectures in Civil, Business and Relief Law.

He has published several lines related to ways and superficial rights in the construction of natural gas transportation and distribution pipelines.

Master Degree in Constitutional Procedural Law at the Universidad Panamericana, México city.

Professional Experience :

He joined the firm in the same year of its creation 1999.

He fulfils the civil and criminal areas related to action under administrative law litigation, contracts and energy law consultancy. He has also participated in several projects related to foreign investment, electricity and natural gas projects and important litigation and arbitration that involve companies from the energy sector.

From April to September 2004, Directed the Legal Area of “Xerox Mexicana, S.A. de C.V.”, assisting the negotiation, development and review of all the national and international agreements of the corporation. He assisted the development of the corporate issues like Intellectual Property, mergers, etc., followed with all kind of trials with out sourcing law firms, and participated in a Due Diligence to the company.

From 1991 to 1999, he worked in Ibarrola & Asociados Law Firm (established in 1947) and he began working in 1989 for “Gregorio J. Cabeza” Custom Bureau.
